About

When Bill Spence decided to open a friendly, neighborhood bar and restaurant in Bayville, on what was formerly known as the North Shore Casino and Beer Garden, he knew that he wanted his restaurant to be a place that served its food at affordable prices, in a laid-back and fun-filled “family-style” atmosphere.   From this simple desire sprang The Breakers Restaurant, a Long Island seafood staple since its opening in 1971.Beginning with its inception as a bar where locals could come in for a drink and a quick, easy meal from the front take-out window, The Breakers has continued to evolve to the full-scale seafood restaurant it is today, serving its customers in three distinct dining rooms. In 1991, the most recent addition was established; the outdoor deck which overlooks the Long Island Sound. In the summer of 2004, Bill Spence passed the torch on to his son -in – law Rich, who continues to uphold Bill’s original philosophy today!!
